The world-renowned musician will hold The Benedetti Sessions in Glasgow's City Halls between March 22 and 24, in the midst of her Silver Violin tour.

The sessions, which will give 40 young musicians the chance to perform with Nicola, aim to challenge, inspire and nurture young string players.

Nicola will lead the ensemble as they perform Bartok's Divertimento.

Nicola said: "I have wanted to do something like this for years.

"I'm delighted to have the support of Glasgow Unesco City of Music, Creative Scotland, the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

"I really hope it will be enjoyable for the young people but also for the public who come to join in and watch our performances and sessions."

Nicola, from West Kilbride, North Ayrshire, is dedicated to music education and was awarded an MBE in the 2013 New Year Honours partly for her charity work.

She is a patron of Big Noise, run by charity Sistema Scotland, which aims to help children in deprived areas through an intense programme of music tuition.
