A COUNCIL has launched its annual Night Zone initiative to help keep revellers safe over the festive period.
The campaign, by West Dunbartonshire Council, will run until January 2 and includes taxi marshals in Clydebank, Dumbarton and Alexandria and high visibility police patrols in hot spot trouble areas.
This year's scheme will also see a "Safe Zone" in the Balloch area for anyone who feels vulnerable, has been threatened by violence or feels unwell after taking drugs or having too much to drink. This will be located in the Y-sort it bus on December 19 and 20.
It will be staffed by outreach workers, Red Cross first aiders and Police Scotland.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Housing and Community Safety, said: "I really welcome this re-launch of Night Zone West, which has been successful over many years now in reducing disorder and helping people to feel safer when they are out and about in West Dunbartonshire's town centres."
