CANADA: People in the north-east states of the US and Canada are digging themselves out after a blizzard dumped snow with hurricane force winds.
At least nine people were killed and hundreds of thousands left without power.
Utility firms reported roughly 350,000 customers still without electric- ity across a nine-state area after the snow brought down branches and power lines.
About half a million had been down as of late Saturday.
Air traffic began to return to normal after 5800 flights were canceled on Friday and Saturday.
Travel bans in Connec- ticut and Massachusetts were lifted but roads remained hazardous.
The storm stretched from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic and covered parts of the north-east with 3ft of snow.
Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts took the brunt of the blizzard.
