Experts at Caledonian University are embarking on a £170,000 project to fit mobiles with an emergency lockdown feature that activates automatically if the phone falls into the wrong hands.

As technology becomes more advanced, people are using mobile devices to store sensitive data, including personal details, bank codes, photos and emails.
