Obesity bill could soar to £3bn mark

The number of obese Scots could double within 20 years, costing the economy £3 billion a year and overloading the health service, according to a Government report.

A strategy to try to prevent this happening was being launched by ministers in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, today, and Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said: “Scotland is in the grip of an obesity epidemic.
