FOOTBALL fans enjoyed a Bank Holiday Monday with a difference as both Celtic and Rangers held special events for supporters.

At Ibrox, a Rangers Legends team faced a squad of former Manchester United stars in front of 23,177 fans.

Former Rangers stars such as Jorg Albertz, Nacho Novo and Brian Luadrup turned out for the home side and mingled with fans before and after the game.

Across Glasgow at Celtic Park, the SPL champions opened the gates to the stadium to allow fans to watch Neil Lennon's side in training.

The Family Fun Day attracted 15,000 Celtic fans.

Celtic stars were interviewed at the side of the pitch and chatted with supporters, while there was also a musical treat as Adam Matthews sang for the crowd.

Among the array of stars on display at Ibrox, current manager Ally McCoist stole the show by scoring two goals in Rangers' 4-1 win.

Albertz and Alex Rae scored the other goals on an afrernoon of celebration for the fans, who at the weekend witnessed the current first team lift the Scottish Third Division trophy.

Manchester United's Legends team included Denis Irwin, Raimond van der Gouw, Dwight Yorke, David May and Ronny Johnsen – who were all involved in the club's 1999 Champions League win.

Even current United boss – and former Rangers player – Sir Alex Ferguson was on hand to take in the action at Ibrox.
