SCOTS have only one day left to nominate their community heroes to carry the Glasgow 2014 baton.

Organisers are searching for 4000 inspirational people to carry the baton on its 40-day journey through Scotland ahead of the Games.

The Queen's Baton Relay is currently passing through Tuvalu on its journey through all the countries and territories of the Commonwealth.

Following its 190,000km journey over 248-days it is due to return to Scotland on June 14, 2014. It will then tour the country, visiting every local authority area.

To be in with a chance of becoming a batonbearer, nominees must be 12-years-old or older and have fulfilled certain requirements.

They must have either contributed through community sport, voluntary work or been a role model or mentor to a young person through sport, or displayed a level of individual achievement against the odds, made a significant contribution to their local community or contributed towards greater inclusion for disadvantaged or marginalised sectors of the community.

Once nominations close, a judging panel, including representatives from Scottish community organisation, will help choose the batonbearers for each area.

Nominations can be made via the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games website www.glasgow2014.com
