Police are investigating an unexplained death in Glasgow’s West End.

Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man in Julian Avenue, just off Great Western Road, at 9.20am today.

However, police said the man died.

A post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

Police said inquiries were at an early stage and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

The entire street in the West End of the city was cordoned off today as the death probe got under way.

Uniformed officers stood guard at either end of the police cordon in upmarket Julian Court.

A police van and two marked cars were also seen in the quiet street, which is next to an allotment.

Two uniformed officers also stood outside a block of flats as CID detectives were seen carrying out investigations.

The scene of the grim discovery is just yard from plush Cleveden Drive.

Shortly before noon an ambulance arrived at the scene and stopped at the police cordon.

It was not immediately clear if it was linked to the body find.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "I left my home in Julian Court at 9.30am to go to town. Everything, everyone, was fine. No police nothing like this."

She added: "But now I've come back, the street is closed and I can't into my home. I have no idea when I will get back in."

One resident said there were “raised voices” and arguing outside the flats at around 9am.

He said he looked out the window and saw two men.
