MOTORISTS are warned to expect heavy traffic on the M8 after a caravan overturned.
The mobile home is believed to have jackknifed with the car pulling it before tipping on to its side and blocking the lane shortly before 1pm on Friday.
Police are on the scene but Traffic Scotland said the motorway, between junctions five and six, Shotts to Newhouse, is still experiencing tailbacks.
The road was closed for around an hour but the caravan has now been moved to the hard shoulder and the road reopened.
Traffic Scotland tweeted: "M8 W/B past J5 - overturned caravan has been moved onto hard shoulder & lane 2 now *open* but traffic still very heavy."
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said there were no one was injured during the incident.
