PEOPLE make Glasgow ...
and today the city was named the friendliest in Britain.
It's been voted the UK's most welcoming in a prestigious poll involving thousands of readers of one of the nation's leading travel magazines
Glasgow's friendliness was singled out for special mention at the Conde Nast Traveller's 17th annual readers' travel awards.
The magazine's associate editor Peter Browne commented: "For our annual awards we ask our readers to vote on their favourite city in the UK and rate it according to certain criteria.
"Glasgow has been right up there in the Top 10 since we launched the awards 17 years ago.
"It always does well for restaurants and bars and this year it came out best for people, so our readers are definitely made to feel welcome and at home."
Glasgow might be the most welcoming but it's slipped down the popularity stakes. This year it's been chosen as the UK's ninth favourite city destination after dropping four places from it's fifth ranking in 2013.
London comes top and Edinbugh second.
