Plea for help to find railway line vandals

VANDALS are being hunted after a train hit a shopping trolley which had been thrown on to the line.

British Transport Police have launched an appeal after a Balloch-bound train struck the trolley on the railway line in the Dalmuir.

The train was damaged and had to be taken out of service following the incident, which happened around 9pm on Tuesday near to Boquharnan Road.Detective Constable David McVean, of BTP, said: "I believe the trolley had been thrown by vandals from an adjacent overbridge, which is an extremely foolish act.

"Anyone who has information regarding those responsible should contact BTP as a matter of urgency."
