THE pregnant victim of school-boy joyriders has issued a plea for the thieves to come forward.

The woman, who is eight-and-a-half months pregnant, was with her twin girls when two boys in school uniform rammed her car.

Although none of the family was hurt, the trio were left badly shaken by the incident in Glasgow.

The 36-year-old, who asked not to be named, said: "The car came out of nowhere.

"It was going about 35 miles an hour and I tried to swerve but there was nowhere I could go.

"It slammed into the passenger side of my vehicle and it was amazing that myself and my daughters were not injured, although both girls are having pain in their necks.

"It was frightening."

As reported in later editions of last night's Evening Times, around 3.15pm on Monday two boys in school uniform were seen taking the Rover 75 from Duror Street.

The pair careened around Carntyne near St Andrew's Secon-dary, where parents were collecting their children.

After grazing a parked car in Greyfriars Street, the boys smashed into the family's Vauxhall Zafira at speed.

The stolen car was then driven through Cranhill Park, which police said was busy with children playing after school.

The mum, from Dennistoun, was taken to hospital and given an emergency scan to make sure her baby was uninjured.

Her 13-year-old twins, in second year at St Andrew's Secondary, were also checked over by medical staff.

She added: "I was in shock earlier and didn't really process what had happened but now I am so angry.Someone could have been seriously hurt.

"We don't even know if they might have been hurt themselves. I would hope they would come forward and take responsibility for their actions.

"We had only picked up the car on Saturday and now I'm waiting to find out if it has been written off."

Forensic tests have been carried out on the Rover, which was later dumped in Crowlin Crescent, Cranhill.

The mum said: "The boys were wearing school uniform so hopefully they will be found."

Officers ask anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on 101.
