VIEWERS will be able to watch the same TV shows they currently enjoy after independence without having to pay a higher licence fee, Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop has claimed.

Favourites such as Doctor Who and Coronation Street will still be available if there is a Yes vote next year, Ms Hyslop told an audience at the Salford Media Festival.

Hit shows will be available on a public service broadcaster, based on the staff and assets of the BBC Scotland which will not need to carry advertisements, she said.
