SNP leader Alex Salmond was good humour when he travelled to Fergusons shipyard.

The day after he was seen as the winner in the televised Independence Referendum debate at Kelvingrove with Alistair Darling he called at the Port Glasgow shipyard.

The visit came the day after it was announced that Jim McColl was the preferred bidder for the under threat business, Mr Salmond met yard convenor Alex Logan and shop steward John McMunagle.

Fergusons was founded in 1902, but went into administration two weeks ago with the loss of 70 jobs following 'significant cashflow pressure'' in recent months.
