POLICE are hunting a thug who bludgeoned a man with a metal bar during a savage attack.

The 36-year-old was walking on a footpath in Kilbeg Terrace, Arden, when he was cornered by the attacker and battered.

Detectives said he has been left with "extensive damage" to both legs after the daylight attack. He is "stable" in hospital.

Today the man leading the hunt for the thug, Detective Constable Ewan Gilmour, said officers were working to establish a motive.

As the victim writhed in agony, his attacker ran back to his car, a silver BMW, and drove off.

It happened between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday.

DS Gilmour, from Pollok CID, said: "This was a very vicious attack which has left the 36-year-old man with extensive damage to his legs."

Police said the suspect is described as white, between 30 and 40, around 5ft 7in, stocky with either a bald head or very short hair. He was wearing a top with a dark collar and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
