THIEVES broke into a Glasgow church and stole a four-figure-sum of money as well as IT equipment.

Police are investigating after two men targeted Anderston Kelvingrove Church in Argyle Street.

At 11.20pm on Tuesday the men broke into the offices on the first floor and made of with the money and three laptops.

Session clerk at the church Tom Moffat said: "It's devastating and very upsetting for everyone at the church to know people broke in like this.

"The church is used by a lot of people - we had about 50 different groups using it last year - and it is very well known throughout the community."

Constable Sean Irvine said: "A number of charities use this venue and the theft of the money and the IT equipment is a huge loss to the organisations.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the two men outside the church, perhaps hanging around outside to contact us. It may be that you can provide further detail on the suspects and help us to trace the men responsible."

Both suspects are described as white, with short dark hair and between 18-20-years-old.

The first was wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit trousers,

The second suspect was wearing a light coloured grey hooded top and light blue tracksuit trousers.

Officers are continuing to gather and review CCTV images in an effort to find out more information regarding the suspects and the incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Partick Police Office on the non-emergency number, 101.
