AN inquest into the death of a three-year-old girl in a hotel pool is set to take place this summer.
Jane Bell, from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, died after getting into difficulty at the Dalmeny Hotel in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, on August 14 last year.
Her mother, Sarah, was arrested on suspicion of murder and neglect but prosecutors decided in December that no criminal proceedings would be taken against her.
The senior police investigator in the case, Detective Chief Inspector Dean Holden, today confirmed to the local coroner that all lines of inquiry had now been exhausted.
He said that the evidence gathered, which includes CCTV footage, will now be passed on to assist with the coroner's inquiry.
Blackpool Coroner Alan Wilson said he would need to hold another pre-inquest review on April 8 ahead of an inquest pencilled in for mid to late June.
He said his provisional view was to hold the inquest before a jury due to health and safety aspects in the case.
The court heard that Jane's parents were aware of today's preliminary proceedings but had chosen not to attend.
