PRO-cannabis campaigners are setting up for a demonstration in George Square.
As the Evening Times has reported, hundreds of drug users are expected to attend the event organised by Glasgow Cannabis Social Club on Monday.
The annual 420 event sees campaigners come together in a public place on April 20 to call for the legalisation of the Class B drug.
The group was assembling a large gazebo at lunchtime.
Among the speakers expected to attend are Jim Duffy, a former chairman of the Scottish Police Federation, who now speaks for pressure group Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) as well as representatives from Cannabis Is Safer Than Alcohol (CISTA).
A spokesman from Glasgow City Council previously said the protestors were denied permission because the event "appeared to encourage the use of cannabis and it was felt that this would not be appropriate".
Police Scotland said they were aware of the potential for events and would police appropriately.
