Thanks to a £10,000 National Lottery grant and cash raised by local people, the children at St Kevin's Primary in Sighthill, Glasgow, now have a new area in time for their sports day.

Labour MSP Patricia Ferguson and Lesley Ann D'Arcy, principal teacher of the Additional Support for Learning school, joined the pupils for the official unveiling.

Ms D'Arcy said: "It's gorgeous and we're thrilled.

"Patricia has been very supportive of the school and attended our Ghanaian ceremony for our Global Gateways Project last October We appreciate her support."

The playground has a children's Trim Trail to help keep them fit, while enhancing their social and psychological skills. Ms D'Arcy added: "Our kids don't have access to all the groups that go on, so the Trim Trail is to encourage them to be active."
