SCOTLAND'S schoolchildren are to get lessons on money and personal finance.

Schools across Glasgow and the surrounding area are being urged to join in and support My Money Week being held in the summer by charity chiefs at the Personal Finance Education Group.

The charity plans to work with teachers by helping organise a dedicated week of activities from Monday, June 9.

Classroom staff will have access to free online resources and training to help deliver financial education to pupils from four to their late teens. The charity's chief executive, Tracey Bleakley, said: "We are delighted to be running My Money Week across Scotland for a second year to help young people across the country learn more about managing money, something that is going to be so important to their life prospects."

She said she hoped all schools would get involved.
