Race is on to get RiRi style from city stores

IT'S the fashion-meets-pop collaboration that comes with a 'PG' rating.Rihanna's raunchy debut collection for high street brand River Island is hitting Glasgow stores this week.

Queues of shoppers are expected as the biggest fashion coup of 2013 goes on sale at five city stores tomorrow morning.

The Spring/Summer 2013 collection was unveiled recently at a star-studded event at London Fashion Week.

The Rude Boy singer made a brief appearance with her stylist Mel Ottenberg at the launch, which was watched by singers VV Brown and Delilah, British supermodel Cara Delevingne and actress Jaime Winstone.

The collection features 56 pieces of clothing and accessories designed by the Barbadian superstar. A further 64 pieces will be added for summer.

RiRi's risque range includes revealing thigh-high split dresses, plunging hooded jumpsuits, bra and crop tops, and killer heels.

The collection will be available at 11 Scottish stores, including five in Glasgow: Argyle Street, Buchanan Galleries, Braehead, Glasgow Fort and Silverburn.

The 25-year-old 'Good Girl Gone Bad' singer said: "I'm being selfish, I designed every piece so I can wear it.

"I want it to look like you got up, got dressed, walked outside and looked fierce and I think that's what these outfits do."

With prices starting from just £18, it is the first entry into the high street market for the seven-time Grammy winner, who has previously produced two capsule collections for Italian designer Giorgio Armani.

Rihanna is the latest star to try her hand at fashion, after Kate Moss designed for Topshop, Kelly Brook for New Look and the Kardashian sisters at Dorothy Perkins.
