RESIDENTS have won their campaign for the introduction of a 20mph zone after an elderly neighbour was knocked down and killed in Carntyne.
The fatal accident happened earlier this year in Abbeyhill Street which triggered claims that drivers were using a stretch between Carntyne Square and Carntyne Road as a "rat run."
Glasgow's road safety chiefs ordered an investigation and now say a 20mph zone will be introduced. Just how quickly depends on the funds available with a council spokesman commenting: "Streets are prioritised through considering key criteria such as proximity to schools."
