A DEVASTATED cat owner has been left feeling 'physically sick' after her kitten disappeared three weeks ago in the Southside of Glasgow.

She is offering a 'no questions asked' £500 reward for her cat's safe return.

Opal, a 19-week-old Seal Lynx Bengal cat, went missing from her home in Langside on November 25.

Louise Wightman set up a Facebook campaign which has more than 750 likes in order to help find her cat.

Since the day Opal vanished, more than 1500 posters have been put up in the Southside and the wider area.

Sunny Govanhill radio station put an announcement on its Facebook page and Cat Protection Glasgow Lost and Found has been putting updates on its Facebook site to ensure people keep looking for the missing kitten.

The local community in Langside has rallied together to help Ms Wightman find her kitten, police officers have been on the lookout and postmen have been delivering posters too.

People have been in touch asking for posters, and one woman even offered an extra £50 so the reward could be increased to £550.

Ms Wightman, who has been "overwhelmed" by the response, has been searching through gardens, parks and has set up a fox trap with food in her own garden in the hope that Opal comes home.

She has even been in touch with psychics to get information on her kitten's possible whereabouts.

Neighbours, strangers and even the children at the local school, Battlefield Primary, have also been searching for Opal.

Veterinary practice The Avenues, with offices in Mount Florida and Rutherglen, have had posters up as well.

Opal wandered out after Ms Wightman, who works from home as a Business Coach for Approach The Coach, had a client come to the house for a meeting.

Unfortunately the door wasn't closed properly and Opal managed to escape.

She is small with blue eyes and has an overall faun colouring with dark marble markings on her legs.

She has a dark stripe on her back and a dark ringed tail with slightly darker ears.

Ms Wightman described her as a 'very distinctive' kitten.

She said: "I am absolutely desperate, I just want my kitten back."

"If someone out there has her, they won't be able to sell her for any more than I am offering, the £500 reward, because she isn't coming directly from a breeder."

There have been reported sightings in Pollokshields and as far out as North Ayrshire, but unfortunately the leads were a dead end.

She is urging anyone with any information, or who may have seen her kitten, to get in touch via the Facebook site (www.facebook.com/findopal), you may also get in touch with us at the Evening Times.
