Zimbabwe-born Moses Mazomba said he was "feeling quite depressed" and had not been eating.
Mr Mazomba, 24, who plays for Cartha Queens Park on the city's South Side, had been put on board a Harare-bound flight at Heathrow on Thursday after losing his campaign to stay in Scotland, but after a struggle he was taken to Colmbrook.
He is fighting to be returned to the Dungavel detention centre so that he can be closer to friends in Glasgow.
Speaking from Colnbrook, Moses said he was "feeling quite depressed" and that the place was "worse than a prison".
Mr Mazomba originally came to the UK for medical treatment for an eye condition. When his visa ran out, he was told he had to leave.
He had been living in Glasgow since 2009.
