RYANAIR boss Michael O'Leary has announced plans to become the UK's top airline.

Speaking in Glasgow this morning, the airline chief revealed a new winter route from Glasgow airport to Berlin.

The budget carrier also plans to expand their winter schedule to include four flights a day to Stansted from the city transport hub, instead of the current three.

Mr O'Leary said: "We are increasing the frequency in response to enormous demand during our first two months of operation in November and December.

"We've had a load factor of around 90% straight out of the box, so there's clearly significant demand for Ryanair's low fares up here and we want to keep working with the airport to invest in new routes and increase frequencies on existing routes.

"As we invest in our new bases here at Glasgow, Stansted and Edinburgh we expect to overtake Easyjet to become the number one airline in the UK."

The new routes, announced during the airline's 30th birthday this year, will begin from September but will be available to book from mid march.
