RYANAIR has surprised a lucky passenger after celebrating 100,000 Glasgow customers.

The low-cost airline marked the milestone yesterday by giving a free return flight to Paisley traveller Harry Campbell.

They have successfully carried 100,000 passengers from Glasgow Airport since they started operating from the transport hub in October - an average of 2,272 passengers a day.

Harry, a Renfrewshire businessman, was thrilled when he discovered he had won the prize - a return fare to London Stansted and an overnight stay at Stansted's Radisson Blu hotel.

The Paisley man is a frequent business traveller and was about to board a morning flight to London Stansted when his name was selected out of a hat.

He was scoping out the route for future trips to London when he was selected.

Ryanair staff Lisa Buckley and Maria Macken presented him with the tickets at Glasgow Airport.

Maria said the airline has seen "huge demand" for seven new winter routes flying out of the city airport, and added: " Ryanair is delighted to celebrate its 100,000 customer at its new Glasgow Airport base."

The airline have launched a promotion to celebrate the milestone, and will sell 100,000 seats for travel across Europe from £14.99, for those travelling between December and February.

The sale will be available until tomorrow night.

Francois Bourienne, Glasgow Airport's commercial director, said: "Ryanair has been a fantastic new addition to Glasgow Airport and we are extremely pleased to have the airline on board.

"The fact that we are seeing Ryanair carry its 100,000th passenger is testament to the popularity of its seven routes this winter amongst our customers.

"Ryanair has ambitious plans for growth, particularly amongst Glasgow's business community, which is why it is focused on opening new bases at primary airports, such as Glasgow.

"We are committed to working with Ryanair to continue to enhance our route offering and deliver services based on customer demand.
