Alex Salmond has rejected accusations that his Government "won't lift a finger to help" low-paid workers.
The First Minister insisted his administration's credentials on the issue of pay were "impeccable", as he told Labour leader Johann Lamont it was the SNP which had introduced the living wage for the public sector.
Ms Lamont challenged him to back her party's bid to ensure firms bidding for public sector contracts have to pay all their workers the living wage - currently set at £7.65.
Labour has previously tried to amend the Procurement Reform (Scotland) Bill.
