ALEX Salmond stumbled into admitting that the pound is not an asset of the United Kingdom, exposing the chaos at the heart of the SNP's claims on currency.
Appearing on a phone-in show on BBC Radio Scotland the First Minister denied claiming that currency was an asset of the United Kingdom.
When launching the White Paper last November the First Minister said that sterling and the bank of England are "as much Scotland's assets as London's assets".
