Santa gets hi-tech for hospital kids

SICK kids at Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital had a special visit from Santa – even though the hospital does not have a chimney.

Children who worried Santa might not find them as they will be away from home this Christmas had their spirits raised when he spoke to them via a special video link.

Santa treated the kids to a special visit thanks to Yorkhill's Cisco TelePresence video system.

The high-definition link is normally used to allow patients to communicate with doctors globally.

Donald McLaughlin, director for Cisco Scotland, said: "Over the years, Santa and his team of elves have continually looked for new and innovative ways to make toys and communicate with children, so it's only natural that Santa will be using the latest video technology to pay a personal visit to children in hospital."

The appearance of Mrs Claus and the elves added extra sparkle to the occasion as they delivered well-deserved presents.
