LEADING figures in the world of forensic science have arrived in Scotland to learn more about advances in the study of bloodstain patterns.
The bi-annual conference of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA) is taking place over three days in Edinburgh.
The interpretation of bloodstain patterns – where the blood lands and the size and shape of droplets – can be crucial in building the case that puts a criminal behind bars.
Tom Nelson, director of SPSA Forensic Services, said: "This is a prestigious forensic science conference."
