TWO local athletes are among the latest to be named for the 2014 Winter Games.

Aileen Neilson and Bob McPherson were among a total of four players to be selected to represent ­ParalympicsGB in Sochi, Russia.

Their names were revealed at a special ceremony at Braehead curling rink alongside those of the first four ­women selected for Team GB's women's curling squad for the Winter Olympics.

Aileen, 42, from Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, who competed at the Paralympics in Vancouver in 2010, where the team finished sixth, will be skip for the team.

She will play alongside Bob, 45, from Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, who will make his Paralympics debut, and Gregor Ewan, of Elgin, Morayshire, and Tom Killin, from Edinburgh.

She said: "Competing at a Paralympic Games is the pinnacle of any athlete's career, and I'm so pleased to be representing ParalympicsGB in Sochi."

Claire Hamilton, from Glasgow, was named alongside Anna Sloan, Vicky Adams and skip Eve Muirhead to compete at next year's Winter Olympics.
