GLASGOW-BORN singer Lewis Capaldi has spoken about his girlfriend for the first time.

The Someone You Loved star, 26, told Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills this week that he is a 'happy chappy'.

Capaldi went public with Edinburgh-born actress Ellie MacDowall, 23, at the Brit Awards earlier this year.

Glasgow Times:

The Scottish Sun reports he said: "I have a girlfriend and that’s going really well, I am happy chappy, she’s a lovely lady I feel good about everything.”

Promoting his new single Wish You The Best, which is a break-up song, he added: "It’s about someone moving on and that feeling where you know it’s the best thing for that person.

“But all you say is ‘good luck I’m really happy for you’ but actually you are dying inside and want to tell them all the things you miss about them and why they should stay with you - so just a really happy song for the summer!”

Glasgow Times:

This week, we told how Capaldi's sister had hit back at trolls slagging off their parents.

Danielle Capaldi, 30, took to TikTok to warn trolls to back off after reading comments about her parents Carol and Mark following the release of Lewis's documentary How I'm Feeling Now.

She shared a picture of her and Lewis, 26, on the social media platform showing their middle fingers with the caption: “When reading negative comments on parents.”

Danielle, who is a teacher, added: "Lewis’s documentary has had a lot of positive responses.

“But unfortunately there will always be people who have to look for problems where there aren’t any.

“If you don’t get Scottish patter or parents who are worried about their son, don’t comment.”
