Two women have been arrested for allegedly attempting to climb over a barrier on the Royal Mile during a visit from King Charles.
The women, aged 20 and 21, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon for alleged breach of the peace.
One of the women is believed to be a protester from Glasgow representing the climate activist group This Is Rigged.
Sharing the arrest on social media, a spokesperson for This Is Rigged wrote: "We consider these arrests unlawful and a denial of our democratic right to protest."
The force said: "Our priority is public safety, balanced against people’s rights."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Two women – aged 20 and 21 - have been arrested in connection with a breach of the peace after allegedly attempting to climb over a crowd safety barrier on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh.
"Our priority is public safety, balanced against people’s rights."
The King and Queen are in the capital for a service of thanksgiving and dedication celebrating their coronation at St Giles' Cathedral.
