It has today been revealed that a major Glasgow hospital is infested with cockroaches.
The presence of the insects has been identified in a non-patient, basement area of Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary.
It is believed that the infestation was discovered by staff, who routinely inspect the site to identify and resolve any pest control issues.

It is unknown when the issue will be cleared, but the hospital has confirmed that they are working with specialists, in order to rectify the situation safely and efficiently.

In an exclusive statement to the Glasgow Times, an NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesperson said: "We have identified the presence of cockroaches in a non-patient, basement area of Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary and, in line with strict pest prevention and control procedures, are working with specialists to ensure the situation is rectified in a safe and efficient manner.
"As part of our robust environmental cleanliness measures, staff routinely inspect our sites to identify and resolve any pest control issues, rather than wait for them to be reported."
