A WOMAN caused a hospital to be evacuated after falsely activating a fire alarm.

Donna Henry, 45, caused patients and staff to leave Glasgow Royal Infirmary on April 17, 2022.

The city’s Sheriff Court heard that Henry was seen approaching the main door of the accident department after 3am.

Prosecutor Caitlin O’Hare said: “She struck the fire alarm causing it to sound.

“As a result of the alarm going off, staff and patients were evacuated as well as patients in accident and emergency.

“Staff were notified of the false alarm and the incident was reported to the police.”

Henry, of the city’s Possilpark, pleaded guilty to conducting herself in a disorderly manner.

Sheriff Vincent Lunny said: “This is a very serious matter and could have had significant consequences for those being treated.”

Keith Tuck, defending, replied: “Absolutely, she understands that.”

Henry was tagged for 163 days keeping her indoors between 7pm and 7am.

She was also put under supervision for 12 months

Sheriff Lunny told her: “This was not a trivial matter by any means.

“The potential harm towards others was significant.

“People were there to be treated and if there was further information about something serious I would probably have jailed you for this.”
