A roundabout and several East Kilbride roads will be shut for three days while work will be carried out.

This is due to essential resurfacing, which will take place on the A725 at Whirlies Roundabout, between 8pm on Friday, November 17 and 6am on Monday, November 20.

During this time, the following closures will also be in place:

  • The A749 Kingsway between Mavor Roundabout and Whirlies Roundabout will be closed to through traffic, with access to the retail park only (Lees Burn Court) from Mavor Roundabout.

  • The A725 Kingsway between Whirlies Roundabout and Whitemoss Roundabout will be closed in both directions.

  • The B783 East Mains Road will be closed in both directions between Whirlies Roundabout and Gullion Park.

  • There will be no access to or from Whirlies Roundabout and Calderwood Road.

Signed diversions will be in operation and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained.

According to Amey, who will complete the construction on behalf of Transport Scotland, the scheme will improve the condition and safety of the carriageway and reduce the need for more disruptive maintenance in the future.
