Kindhearted volunteers organised a Christmas grotto for more than 100 children in Glasgow.

Youngsters and their families visited Men Matter Scotland's grotto event near Drumchapel last weekend which was achieved with the help of volunteers from GRAHAM.

The contractor has supported the mental health charity for the second year running, and staff raised £550 towards decorating the grotto.

GRAHAM also donated presents to the grotto which they helped to wrap and which were warmly received by families, and earlier this year they gifted a new kitchen to Men Matter Scotland which helped the charity to organise cooking lessons for users.

Fraser Devine, co-founder of Men Matter Scotland, said: “Since we launched Men Matter Scotland, we’ve been providing practical help and support to hundreds of men across the country, offering activities and peer-to-peer sessions which are designed to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

“Christmas is a special time of year, but it can also be difficult for many families in Glasgow for a variety of reasons. Our Christmas grotto event is a small way that we can provide some joy for local people, and we’re incredibly grateful to GRAHAM for their support in helping us facilitate such a fantastic, festive experience.”

Debbie Rutherford, head of social impact and support services at GRAHAM’s Building North division, added: “Every child deserves to receive a gift at Christmas and it was incredible to see so many smiling children and their families attend the event last Saturday.

“Men Matter Scotland plays an invaluable role in supporting men across the country and we’re really proud to champion their work wherever we can.

"We have invited MMS to our staff briefing in 2024 to update our colleagues on the valuable services and support they provide and will be working in partnership to deliver wellbeing surgeries onsite on how to deal with mental health issues.”
