POLICE have provided an update after a busy Glasgow area was left without power last week.

We previously reported homes in the city were left in darkness due to an "emergency incident" on Friday, April 5.

Scottish Power said those living in the G42 0BX, G44 4NA, G44 4NB, G44 4NF, G73 2EB, G73 2EE, G73 2EF, G73 2ES, and G73 2RG postcodes were hit by a power cut.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service previously said it attended the incident - which involved a car "crashing into an electric box".

Now, police have said they were called to the crash, which involved two vehicles, shortly after 12am on Friday.

Officers say the accident took place on Curtis Avenue.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where a 52-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

After that, he was later arrested.

Meanwhile, the force also revealed the other driver involved, a 49-year-old man, was checked over by paramedics, while a passenger, 52, was taken to hospital.

On top of that, a second passenger in one of the vehicles, a 26-year-old man, attended hospital as a precaution.

Following the emergency situation, Scottish Power said power was restored in the area by 2pm that day.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 12.55am on April 5 to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Curtis Avenue in Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and one driver, a 52-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"He was later arrested and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“The other driver, a 49-year-old man, was checked by the Scottish Ambulance Service. A passenger, a man aged 52, was taken to hospital for treatment.

"A second passenger, a man aged 26, attended hospital as a precaution.”
