GLASGOW architects volunteered their time to a charity that supports Wheatley Group tenants.

Kerry Clark, Morgan Milne and Ashley Shanks from MAST Architects helped out Starter Packs at a volunteering day organised by the Wheatley Foundation.

The charity provides essential household goods such as crockery, toiletries, kettles and duvets for tenants settling into new homes.

The volunteers focused on sorting donations and assembling packs at the charity's offices in Govan.

Ms Clark, a senior architect, said: “Volunteering for Starter Packs has brought home how meaningful our work designing new homes is and helped us learn a bit more about the people who benefit from them.”

Gavin Dunbar, general manager of Starter Packs, added: “Volunteers make a huge contribution to the work that Starter Packs Glasgow does week in, week out and it allows them to see the difference our service makes to the people we support.”

Hosting volunteer days is part of the Wheatley Foundation's Community Benefits initiative which leverages the skills of the housing association's contractors for the direct benefit of customers.

This year, MAST Architects has offered work experience to Wheatley’s bursary students and will be providing digital workshops for customers.

Lynne Mitchell, director at the foundation, said: "It’s always good to see Wheatley contractors step up to support people in our communities and we look forward to continuing to work with MAST to benefit our customers."

Starter Packs is encouraging further donations of household items. The charity can be contacted on 0141 440 1008 or by emailing administrator@starterpacks.org.uk.
