A GLASGOW nightclub has been named the best in Scotland at a prestigious awards ceremony.

The Cathouse on Union Street in the city centre has been crowned the Best Nightclub in the country at the Best Bar None Scotland National Awards for 2023/24.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, March 14, in Stirling.

After winning the award, the Cathouse took to social media recently to say it was "honoured".

In a Facebook post, the venue said: "Through Best Bar None we are honoured to receive another National Award which we rightfully share with all the staff who worked extremely hard this past year.

"Our thanks are extended to all of our customers who continue to choose our venue for their social nightlife and gatherings.

"We aim to be bigger and better every year and to be recognised for continued effort brings cat tears to our eyes.

"We hope to receive your continued support in these times to help sustain our individuality as a club and as a welcome space for everyone."

Several other Glasgow venues also received an award at the event including:

  • The Crystal Palace on Jamaica Street won Best Pub/Bar
  • Slay on Glassford Street won Best Specialist Entertainment Venue and Best in Scotland.

Following the awards ceremony last month, Jack Gemmell, chair of Best Bar None Scotland, said: “The quality of entries for this year’s awards shows that, despite the economic headwinds the sector is experiencing, there is still a real passion for providing a safe, fun and welcoming place to socialise.

"It’s a testament to the winners that they have gone above and beyond to promote responsible consumption and look after their customers and communities.”
