A MALE nurse who sexually assaulted a co-worker twice will learn this month if he can continue working in the profession.

Robert Edmiston was found guilty of assaulting his former colleague twice during a shift at the Braemount complex in Paisley.

He was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register and given a community payback order after being convicted in July last year of the assaults at the Bupa home.

The 44-year-old married dad was placed on an 18-month interim conditions of practice order by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, regulating when and how he can work.

He will appear before the NMC later this month to learn his ultimate fate and faces the ultimate sanction of being struck off the register.

The incidents took place in a small treatment room while the nurse was briefing the victim about two patients on August 26, 2013.

The woman said that the assault lasted about 30 seconds and that she struggled to get away.

In a separate case before health watchdogs, a mental health nurse has been struck off after she faked colleagues' signatures for drugs 64 times for a vulnerable patient.

Maureen McLuskie, falsified signatures for insulin treatment dozens of times while employed at team leader at Torrance Lodge care home, in Kilmarnock, which cares for elderly peoples suffering from dementia.

Her employers, Countrywide Care Homes Limited, required that the administration of insulin should be witnessed. Although no witness was present, she made a false entry for colleagues 64 occasions.

Miss McLuskie admitted the charges, saying: "'I take full responsibility for my actions and deeply regret them."

However, she was struck off the register because the NMC panel, "was not assured Miss McLuskie has acknowledged the seriousness of her behaviour and how it impacted on the profession."
