PROPERTY firm boss William Gear is still celebrating after a bumper festive period.

Mr Gear is director of Chester Properties, which owns the Brandon Centre in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.

He has revealed that the number of shoppers was up almost 10% compared with the same period a year ago.

Mr Gear said: "It's a sparking performance in the face of some of the worst retail trading conditions of recent times.

"In the run-up to Christmas, retail analysts were all gloom and doom, predicting shoppers would desert the high street for the internet, so we're delighted that our footfall figures showed an impressive year on year increase."
