A GLASGOW fashion chain with stores around the world has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in a city HQ expansion near the banks of the Clyde.

Quiz Clothing has made a splash in the retail sector with 220 global outlets and a UK workforce of more than 1000 staff since launching less than 20 years ago.

And multi-millionaire philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, who has a proven eye for business, was given the VIP treatment after agreeing to launch the company's new-look headquarters which are in Hydepark, Finnieston.

The tycoon had previously spent a day working at the Glasgow-based chain after Quiz Clothing founder and managing director Tarak Ramzan made an undisclosed but substantial donation to the Social Business Fund.

Mr Ramzan has since invested £500,000 expanding his city headquarters where more than 90 staff are based.

He employs another 922 at stores throughout the UK.

Franchisees operate the firm's international stores and employ their own workforce.

The businessman said: "It was great to have Tom come in and officially open our new offices and introduce himself to our hard-working team.

"He offered us some invaluable advice which I'm sure will prove useful as we continue to grow our organisation."

His chain specialises in dressy, occasion wear and casual clothing.

Mr Ramzan added: "It was also great to hear about Tom's philanthropic ventures and his passion for fostering entrepreneurs in Scotland."
