TWO sisters went loom band crazy and sold hundreds of their creations to schoolpals to raise cash for a cancer ward helping their little brother.

Erin and Holly Martin set up a stall at their school selling colourful bracelets, necklaces, rings and hair bands for a week and raised £300.

Their brother Louis, 6, is currently receiving treatment for a soft tissue sarcoma in the Schiehallion ward at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow since June 4.

Erin, 11, and Holly, 8, also sold some of their loom band jewellery to family and friends before handing a cheque for £300 over to Yorkhill Children's Charity this week.

Parents James, 33, and Nicola, 32, said they were "immensely proud" of their girls for taking the initiative to raise money.

Mum Nicola said: "It was their own idea. They just came up with it one day and asked if they could do it. Then they asked the school if they could sell them at break times and lunch time.

"It has cost a fortune in loom bands but they did use their own pocket money to buy them as well and family members have also donated bands.

"The girls sat for hours designing and making their own loom jewellery. They were very dedicated.

"Their wee brother Louis is receiving treatment in the Schiehallion ward and they just wanted to give something back."

The girls, who attend St Michael's Primary School in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, said they got some help to make the jewellery from their pals and paid for some of the loom bands with their pocket money.

Holly said: "We set up a stall at the school during lunch times and break times and sold lots of loom band jewellery. It was really good fun.

"Friends and family bought a lot of them as well and we just wanted to do something to say thanks for looking after our brother."

Erin added: "We got a bit of help from our friends to make them and we want to thank everyone at the school and our family for buying them.

"On the first day we made £80 and everyone was buying them."
