THREE sisters have combined cooking skills gained on their global travels to open a new tea room and deli.

Gillian, Linsey and Nichola Reith, have given up their jobs to open the aptly named Three Sisters Bake, in Quarriers Village, Renfrewshire.

They've used experience gained working in top restaurants as well as on yachts and in ski chalets to launch their own eaterie – which also sells cards and gifts.

The sisters, who are from nearby Bridge of Weir, are following in the footsteps of their mum Alison, 62, who was a home economics teacher, and their gran Lillian McCallum, 85 ran a sweet shop.

They were inspired to take the plunge after enjoying Australia's laid back cafe scene while travelling.

Gillian, 32, from Queen's Park, said: "Creating a foodie destination and craft boutique has been our dream since we used to help our gran make tablet for her sweetie shop.

"Cooking, baking, mixing and creating foodie delights is in our blood and after a few years on the corporate ladder we all realised that our catering talents should really be channelled into our own food destination.

Gillian, who is front of house manager, worked in PR before working for Glasgow restaurant Cafezique, sister Nichola swapped a career in chemistry for baking as the cafe's pasty chef while trained chef Linsey has cooked at ski chalets and on yachts in the South of France.

The 50-seater restaurant, on Faith Avenue, offers breakfast, quiches, homemade soups, sandwiches salads and cakes.

Linsey, said: "We've taken inspiration from our travels and brought all that together to create a nice destination in Quarriers.

"We want to bring homely, fresh food into a family environment in such a beautiful area."
