HE HAS travelled the world and performed in front of millions but guitar legend Slash says Glasgow will always hold a special place in his heart.

The former Guns 'N' Roses guitarist performed with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, and Biffy Clyro, for thousands of music fans at last night's MTV World Stage show at the O2 Academy.

Speaking ahead of the show, the music icon was keen to share his love for Scotland and Glasgow.

He said: "Scotland's just beautiful, I love it here. I've got a lot of good memories playing here."

It's a view echoed by Myles Kennedy, the frontman of American rockers Alter Bridge & The Conspirators, who perform with Slash.

Myles said: "The crowds in Glasgow are fantastic. I've played this venue a few times and I have very fond memories of the insane Glasgow crowds. Probably some of the best memories I have of Glasgow are after shows, meeting fans who've waited for us and them being so generous and even bringing us gifts.

"Glasgow fans are so passionate and that's something I'm into."

He also revealed he has his own personal connection to Scotland.

He said: "My stepdad inspires me and he's got a fair amount of Scottish in him."

Slash said he was excited about performing with Biffy Clyro, one of Scotland's most popular rock bands, at the MTV World Stage show.

However, he said that, like most of his musical collaborations, it had not been pre-planned.

The avid filmmaker also hinted that he was not a big fan of American rapper Nicki Minaj, who will host the MTV EMAs at the Hydro in Glasgow on Sunday.

Asked which role he would give Minaj in one of his films, he replied: "First girl murdered".

The Slash and Biffy Clyro show was just one of a number organised by MTV for its World Music Week.

Other acts including La Roux, Chvrches and The 2 Bears have also performed at a variety of locations across the city during the week, with Trevor Nelson set to play at the O2 ABC on Sunday.

The week of music will culminate in the MTV EMAs at the Hydro tomorrow. Acts set to perform include Ed Sheeran, U2, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Kiesza, Royal Blood and Calvin Harris.

Slash will return to Glasgow with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators when he plays the SSE Hydro on December 4, while Biffy Clyro will play three special shows at the city's Barrowland on December 5, 6 and 7.
