MOTORISTS faced travel misery as snow caused cars to grind to a halt.
Many cars travelling on the M8 were stuck when traffic came to a standstill amidst heavy snow showers around 8am this morning.
Temperatures were just above freezing when the snow began to fall at Harthill in North Lanarkshire.
Five mile queues stretched back to Harthill's Main Street and along to Salsburg.
Traffic is now understood to be moving slowly and motorists should expect some delays if travelling through the area.
