POLICE are hunting a robber who held up a shop in Bellshill.

The thug targeted Lawmuir Stores, in Lawmuir Road, at around 7.30am on Tuesday.

He then threatened two members of staff before making off with a small sum of money .

Police said he was last seen heading in the direction of Community Road.

The suspect is described as white with a local accent, in his late 20's to late 30's.

He wore a dark blue jacket, black gloves, black tracksuit bottoms and a pair of grey adidas trainers with 3 stripes.

He is also described as having a prominent nose.

Detective Constable Chris Norton, said: "Thankfully no one was injured during the robbery, however, it was a very frightening experience for the elderly women who staffed the shop.

"Our inquiries are continuing.

"We are continuing to analyse CCTV in the area and have conducted interviews in the area.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of shop at the time of incident to contact police with any relevant information."
