SCOTS screen star Kelly MacDonald has returned to her former school to open a new drama studio and theatre named in her honour.
Kelly, who began her acting career in cult Scottish film Train-spotting, featured in Harry Potter and voiced Princess Merida in the Disney/Pixar hit Brave, is a former pupil of Eastwood High School, in Newton Mearns.
She joined teacher Stuart Maxwell and a few of the current sixth year pupils for a tour of the new Eastwood High, which opened in August.
And she admitted she was amazed at the changes which had been made since her school days.
Mr Maxwell said, "I would like to personally thank Kelly for taking the time to come along and open our drama school and theatre.
"It was fantastic that she took time to speak to each individual pupil - her visit created a real buzz within our school."
The actress, who is married to Travis bassist Dougie Payne, revealed that she had her first ever drama class at Capelrig House, near to the school, and unveiled a commemorative plaque on the wall of the new theatre.
She attended the former Eastwood High between 1987 and 1993.
