Stars tweet their congratulations

CELEBRITIES and sportstars took to twitter just moments after Andy Murray's first Grand Slam title.

And one of the first to congratulate him was tennis legend Andre Agassi.

The American great and former Grand Slam winner said @AndreAgassi Well deserved...Congratulations to the #USOPEN Champion Andy Murray!!!

For writer and comedian Stephen Fry the excitement was almost too much to take during the game.

After Fry tweeted @stephenfry Glory glory glory glory glory GLORY be!!! Andy Murray, you beauty! #USOpen

Piers Morgan tweeted "McBOOOOM!!!!! We are witnessing one of the greatest British sporting triumphs of my lifetime. #Murray"

Olympican DaiGreene tweeted "Waking up to find @andy_murray won the #usopen. Fantastic result, great to see him getting the win he deserves."

Hollywood legend Russell Crowe tweeted his congratulations saying "I bet there's a good drink to be had in Dunblane this night. Have a few for me."

Scots actor Alan Cumming tweeted during the match saying "oh little andy murray looks so stressed out. poor wee thing."
